Music Video Inspirations

Here are two videos we have gained inspiration from:



This one is the same genre as the music video we are doing ours too (Acoustic/Indie). The conventions are very much the same with the storyline of loss and acceptance. Moreover, it has a twist at the end showing the main actor had been in a coma and his girlfriend had died. We have used this and made our own smaller twist to our narrative.

We also like the general mise-en-scene in terms of the colour being quite dull/indie feel. We also like the way in which it is filmed with DSRL's using a very shallow depth of field throughout. The different props also gave us an inspiration for how our props trigger memories of our actress.





This music video is different in that it is purely performance based. However, we have gained a lot of inspiration because the use of lighting from different times of sunlight, which we could use to our advantage e.g sunset for a more emotional scene. Moreover, we really liked how the different locations created a different feeling and how much it moves the video along e.g going from the House to the beach moves the video from each section.

Again, as the last video had, it was shot on DSLR's and the same sort of handheld movement was used with a shallow depth of field. This is a general convention in this sort of music video as it makes the main focus to be the artist.
